I give up…

I give up…  I give up, and I surrender…my Saturday evenings in order to make this work.

As I mentioned in the last post, something had to change, so I made a change…  This weekend, I switched up my regular Saturday / Sunday schedules and it yielded nearly three times the number of writing hours as usual.

Usually, I do my big weekly cleaning crazy-early on Sunday morning, I mean, insanely early, like starting at around 4:45 am on average, and on average it usually takes about 2 hours to complete the work.  Yesterday evening, after writing, I did the cleaning, and because of this, today I was able to get up at about 5:00 am and use the following two hours for writing instead of housework.  Then after doing the weekly ironing and prepping for the day and eating breakfast, I did two more hours, and later in the afternoon, after stopping by the graduation open house of one of my students, I got in just over two more hours…and it was good, very good!  In working on revising The Hidden today, I experienced emotions that ranged from head shaking, “what the heck was I thinking when I wrote that part…?” to teary-eyed, “NOW THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKIN’ ‘BOUT!”

So yeah, not that I have such rousing and exciting Saturday evenings anyway, but this will be a sacrifice, a change in the usual in favor of something better.  Of course I’ll still make time for friends and the occasional Saturday evening chill time, but overall, I’m giving it up.

About malcolm2030

I started my formal study of a traditional Japanese martial art during my freshman year in college in late 1990 and in early 2017, I took a leap of faith and have been teaching traditional martial arts and fitness on a full-time basis. I enjoy researching and exploring topics ranging from health and fitness, brain science and quantum physics, to relational dynamics, energy, and optimum living. I believe that we all should be daily evolving toward our true potential; while there will be times when we fall back, or get pushed back, or knocked down, the sum of our steps over a given period of time should be forward.
