Done. I’m done.
Wait, wait…no, not done writing, or even done editing The Hidden. I’m done…with the online class I’d been taking the last couple months. Yep, I took a really informative and fun class that focused on gettin’ stuff published. A great friend sent me info on it earlier in the year. I’d never taken an official online class before. It was fun, and like I already said, informative.
Along with learning the ins and outs of the publishing industry, we did a couple of really fun creative writing assignments. I’m considering sharing them here, but haven’t quite decided yet. I should do it. I might. We’ll see.
I’ve been making progress on my revision of The Hidden, but man, I feel I need to accelerate the process. I’m diggin’ it, deeply, but need to move a bit faster. I know, I’ve been saying that for a while now, but I’m still tweaking my process and refining my writing as I go, and yet I haven’t hit that sweet spot where time, efficiency, effectiveness, and enjoyment all meet. (Actually, today, I did hit that intersection point and it was amazing; made astounding progress; more on that soon.)
Even as I focus on The Hidden, new short story and novel ideas keep flowin’ to me. A few weeks ago, I was on the way to work and BAM, a new story smacked me in the face. In about 10 or 15 minutes, by the time I got to work, I had it, I had the whole story figured out. I got to work, rushed to my desk and penned the page-long summary, scribbling like a madman, and smiling the whole time. Don’t all mad scientists / crazy dudes smile when they write?
Now, with the great info I gleaned from the class, I’m going forward and will put that knowledge to action.
Done. One part of the mission accomplished, still much more to do.
